Judith Meltzer Named President of the Center for the Study of Social Policy

The Board of Directors of the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Judith Meltzer as President of CSSP, effective December 13, 2019.

Judy has been affiliated with CSSP since its founding in 1978, serving as Executive Vice President for the past 20 years. Along with outgoing President Frank Farrow, Judy has been instrumental in shaping CSSP into an organization valued for its leadership in fighting for equity, transforming public systems, supporting community initiatives and leadership, and advocating for a social safety net to ensure that all children, youth, and families may thrive. Judy also pioneered a model of monitoring child welfare systems under class action litigation defined by its non-adversarial approach to reform. This approach is highly regarded as an effective method for helping systems meet statutory responsibilities for children, youth, and families. Currently, Judy leads CSSP in serving as monitor in several jurisdictions and advises nationally on this tool for reform.
