Raegen Selden talked with CBS Evening News about how the Child Tax Credit, which was temporarily expanded in 2021, is critical for children and families at all times.
“Bills still needed to be paid and things still needed to be bought. And it was a comfort in knowing that you had this extra income [during the temporary expansion].”
We should expand the CTC once more, Raegen explained, because “We want them [our children] to grow up to be great, productive citizens in this country. And it’s like you can’t do that if they can’t eat.”
Raegen is a member of the parent advisory board of the Automatic Benefit for Children (ABC) Coalition, which CSSP co-chairs and fights for a permanent child allowance.
Watch the segment below and learn more about how an expanded CTC can help parents and caregivers with the costs of raising children so that they—and their families—can thrive.
